Frequently Asked Questions

Below you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked most about Buffer Trenouth Physical Therapy.

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

+ Do you take insurance?

The short answer is no, we do not take insurance.

The longer, more informative answer is that BTPT is considered “out of network” for all insurance providers. This approach allows us to develop a treatment plan that is specific to the needs of our patients and not restricted or influenced by insurance limitations. We pride ourselves in addressing the concerns you determine the most important, not what concerns your insurance company allows.

Some insurance providers allow for out-of-network reimbursement for all or a portion of your session and we are happy to help guide you through that process.

Yes, we accept both FSA and HSA cards as forms of payment.

+ What services do you offer?

Physical Therapy

  • We offer a broad range of physical therapy offers that begins with a thorough assessment and analysis of your body, pains, concerns, habits and goals.
  • From there, we develop a treatment plan that can consist of one or many offerings, such as:
    • Manual Therapy
    • Neuromuscular Re-Education
    • Customized Exercise and Movement Prescription
    • Education and Discussion

Other Offerings

  • In addition to developing and implementing personalized physical therapy treatment plans to patients, the Buffer Trenouth Physical Therapy and Wellness team also provides a variety of additional services to new and even non-patients, such as:
    • Consulting services for health knowledge providers and publications
    • Collaboration with local gyms as well as dance and circus studios in the form of workshops and 1:1 training sessions for members
    • Ergonomic Assessments for individuals, teams and offices
    • Backstage and Office Based Care
    • Backstage as well as physical therapy consulting services, bringing the table, hands and care to where people are

+ What is your pricing structure?

  • We work closely with the patient to create a personalized, whole-body treatment plan based on our assessments and designed with our patients' concerns and goals in mind.
  • The treatment plan is structured based on hourly visits and our pricing is based on an hourly rate as well as the entire treatment plan in mind.
  • From there, we offer discounted packages for treatment plans that consist of multiple sessions.

+ Will physical therapy help me?

The team approaches physical therapy with whole-body care in mind and is passionate about getting to the root of the problem, even if the root itself is not exactly where the pain exists. Figuring out the root cause of the pain is our team’s passion and where we excel.

  • Physical therapy with Buffer Trenouth may be a great fit for you if you:
    • Have not had success in a traditional PT environment
    • If you seek individualized attention from a highly experienced clinician
    • If you’re a dancer, yogi, circus artist, professional athlete, pilates master, body worker, pregnant person or someone postpartum looking for a keen eye and good hands to take you to the next level of your body’s care

We hope physical therapy will work for you and would be glad to have an introductory session to learn more about your concerns, goals and discuss a potential treatment plan. Contact us to book an introductory session.

  • Melissa and Ashley both practice out of Cambridge and Jason practices out of Jamaica Plain.
  • All of our providers offer home, office, gym, theater and studio based care.
